Martin Turner, Head of Operations for BBC newsgathering, used the term at the inaugural Goldsmith’s College Future of the News Symposium in reference to the Increasing demands made you journalists to do Their Own Packageediting and filing in the field, in order to cut costs and keep pace with Citizen journalism . [1]

Robohack was also used in the April 2002 issue of New Scientist magazine to refer to an information gathering dog .
